This paper reviews a study conducted by a research team from the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. The study reviewed twenty-five medium- to high-effect size AISI (Alberta Initiative for School Improvement) technology projects as a means to understand how the use of technology might be better applied within Alberta classrooms.

Family Treasures was a global sharing project where each child went home and chose a special artifact or treasure that Once the children chose a treasure they were expected to find out the "story" behind the artifact. Each child then wrote the story of the treasure, in their own words. Once their story was written the children presented their story and showed the actual treasure to their classmates and their families.

The teacher e-mailed to find out what the children needed. The class then decided to host a variety of bake sales in the hallway, at businesses or in their neighbourhoods. They earned over $300.00 and used the funds in a variety of ways to support the children.
